Machine Learning Study Jams — Google Developer Student Clubs
The GDSC BVP DET gave us the opportunity to host a very amazing event named ML Study Jams. ML Study Jams was a one-month journey that was all about getting to know what is machine learning and what its benefits are. This gave students a suitable approach to start their research and explore machine learning and data science in depth. Google has several platforms like crowdsource, Quick, draw! , Kaggle, and much more where people all around the world can give their inputs to make the machine learning algorithms much better. Among the main goals of the program was to bring students’ attention to all such initiatives and encourage them to learn new things while performing the tasks.
I along with my two community members were selected to facilitate and lead this event in our GDSC college chapter. We got plenty of and most significant study material from Google to host sessions and impart knowledge to all members. This event was divided into two tracks, “Explore ML Beginner Track” and “Explore ML Intermediate Track” where we explored and mastered different topics related to machine learning together. In order to provide students with a clear path to starting from scratch, we introduced them to Kaggle courses.
Our sessions on machine learning were attended by 30+ curious and innovative minds. We had the best experience of mentoring and connecting with the community. It was a memorable and fruitful event for our college. The students provided us with valuable feedback.

Choosing Poorva as a ML Study Jams Facilitator wasn’t a bad decision! She performed her task with sheet diligence along with the other 2 facilitators. She was quite motivated through the journey of the jam. Which helped other members keep up with the sessions, milestones and etc.

The ML Study Jams were an amazing way for us to get started on Machine Learning. The way these jams were held helped us get an idea about what exactly is Machine Learning. The facilitators did a fabulous job of making us understand the concepts and topic. They were phenomenal. Studies Jams like these are a great way of learning.

I liked the way you all started right from machine learning basics…the way you all helped us understand with the help of amazing presentations or videos …communication with all the speakers during sessions was comfortable as you all cleared our doubts very well and provided all the necessary things we should know about ml and data science. Also, the quiz part u all introduced types of ml learning in it. Lastly, the q&a session was also good. The information you all provided through this study jam will really help us. Your efforts were in it to let us know about Machine learning. So overall the study jam went consistently too well.
